IS SLOWING down a long-standing trend or just a phenomenon of the crisis?
Digitalisation and global networking are accelerating our society and our lives. More and more people are CRAVING a break, PARTICULARLY after STRESSES OF THE PANDEMIC, ENDLESS online meetings and THE ABSENCE OF childcare.
A 2016 Zukunftsinstitut study (Future Institute) on the topic of „The Age of Deceleration“ clearly states the following:
„For many companies, it will be essential to consider the issue of deceleration in the future. Regardless of the industry, it is important to develop your own approach to the topic of „deceleration“. Those who want to remain relevant to the future employees and consumers of the future should anchor this approach in their brand communication and corporate culture.“
Companies such as Google and Amazon are known for their flexibility and speed, which are a success factors in digital business. However, becoming driven can lead to stress, insomnia and a number of other unpleasant side effects.
To counteract this in a targeted manner, you should recharge your batteries and maintain your energy levels.
here are my three tips for recharging your batteries and for maintaining Your energy Level:
Be grateful for what you have
This may sound esoteric and trite, but being aware every day of what you have and of the fact that you are doing your best with what is possible today is a valuable insight and the best way to start the day.
Be aware of what you can and cannot influence
We often get annoyed by things that are beyond our control. Have you chosen the longer supermarket queue again, or are you annoyed by other people’s driving? Are you stuck in a traffic jam and just wanting to complain about the time you’ve lost?
Surely this has happened to all of us at some point, right? You can choose where to direct your energy – either get upset about others or perhaps take a deep breath, go for a short walk and enjoy the time to yourself.
Say NO
It often sounds easier said than done: cancel an appointment, don’t take on an additional project and don’t let yourself be persuaded to look after your neighbour’s cats.
When we realise that an obligation or task is really stressing us out, we do not have to be polite, we can say NO in a friendly manner – because it’s not what you say, but how you say it.
My conclusion
These are just a few of the many strategies you can use to free yourself from unnecessary baggage, slow down and recharge your batteries.
Ultimately, it doesn’t matter which strategy you choose. As long as you feel comfortable with it, anything or almost anything goes. .
